Split large backup files

Hi,

We run backups of many databases that are published for clients to download over https. We have a problem that HTTP only support files up to 4Gb. Our backup files range from 1meg to 20Gb. Is it possible to set sql backup to split files over 4Gb in size?

I have seen the split file option, however that appears just to split the backup in to a particular number of files - I only want to split files when they exceed 4gb (ie. no backup file larger than 4gb).

Any help would be appreciated.

    No, it isn't possible to split files that way. You will need to use another application to perform the splitting and the eventual merging.

    Thank you for the reply. Bit of a pain really. Im not sure why you would to 'split backups in to X files' and not 'split files over X MB'. Feature request :wink: ?
