Long startup time when off network

Whenever I login to a customer's VPN (thus cutting me off from the internet), SQL Compare 6 takes a long time to load. I see the splash screen for about 30 seconds or so before it finally loads and then functions normally.

This isn't a huge deal but is certainly annoying.

Does the application phone home at load time, perhaps to check for updates? If so, can this be disabled?

    The application doesn't check for updates at load time (or phone home for any other reason), only when you explicitly ask it to.

    One of the third-party libraries that we use does check network printer settings at load-time, which might be an issue if you have a network printer set up which is also cut off when you connect to the VPN.
