When there is no Quesry analyser installaed sync optin gives an error when try to sysncronise as default option is Query Analyser.

It should be more wiser to select the correct option depending on the selected database version and installed client tools

    Yes we could add some code to make sure that the default third party application is detected intelligently. However, we felt that as most users would only ever change this option once, it wasn't a major issue and therefore we should direct our efforts elsewhere.

    Also as SQL 2000 and 2005 scripts can in both QA and SSMS we feel that changing the application depending on the target is not necessary when both QA and SSMS are installed.
