search objects problem

when i start a new comparision project, it defaults to selecting all objects. And the distinct groups of objects are minimixed, so i only see the header screen, with the counts listed of selected objects. I would rather have the option to select all or not. In my case, i do not want all selected.
I would also like to expand or shrink the groups by a default as well. I would like to see them expanded.

but the search issue is this. on a new project, when it selects everything, and the groups are shrunk to just the header, and i start to search for an item, it will do nothing... if it finds an item in the list, why doesnt it expand the group it is in? i have to click it to see it. But it seems to be an odd behaviour...

I imagine that since everything is selected already, and minimized, the search is really finding it, but the display is not showing anything... so it seems like its doing nothing. Maybe its just a perception.

But i hope that explaining how i use it, may help you in seeing that it seems to be odd behaviour. And i would like to default some of these options.

    So is that three requests? =D

    Allow users to set select all / none behaviour for new projects.

    Allow users to set collapse / expand behaviour for new projects

    Searching should auto expand groups.


    Of all of these, I can see the first two requests might solve some irrations in the product. But I consider the third the most important and a usability failure which I will try to get addressed by the final release.
