Sch Backup fails in cluster environment

Have a 2-node 2000 Active/Passive cluster. SQL backup runs fine when the cluster is running on Server A but when cluster is moved to Server B the backups fail.

The error is the standard "The job failed. The job was invoked by blah blah"
Server A and Server B are setup the same of course and have the same user permissions.

Any suggestions as to how to resolve the failing backups when cluster is running on Server B?

Thanks
Matt

Has SQL Backup been installed on both nodes? Please see http://www.red-gate.com/messageboard/viewtopic.php?t=1880 for details.

As far as I can tell SQL BAckup is installed on both nodes. I followed the instructions given to me from the Red-Gate salesperson for installing in the clustered environment. Those instructions were a reference to a forum post.

In that case, could you pls run a test backup on Server B, and provide us the resulting error message? Thanks.

The job failed. The Job was invoked by Schedule 120 (<Name Removed> Full Backup Schedule). The last step to run was step 1 (Step 1).

This error is from the job history in EM. I assume that was the error message being referred to.

Could you pls run a backup job using Query Analyzer or Management Studio on Server B, and let us know the output? E.g.

master..sqlbackup '-sql "BACKUP DATABASE model TO DISK = [c:\model.sqb] WITH INIT"'

    Thanks.

QA message when SQL is running on Server B:

    "Trial has expired."

Server A with same command runs the master backup fine.

You need to activate the license on Server B. You can use the GUI for this. If Server B is not currently the active node, use the standalone ProductActivation application found in the SQL Backup folder.
