Speedier Code Snippets

I would like to have the code snippets be entered as soon as I hit the completion key - without waiting for the candidate list to appear.

I would like the candidate list to wait awhile before it appears, but not be dependent on it for the code snippets.

Any hope of this happening in a future release, or with a settings change now?
