I notices an issue where it was taking a long time to open SSMS and seem to have isolated the problem.
I connect to remote servers quite often via VPN connections. The remote database information gets cached locally. Next time SSMS and SQL Prompt open, SQL Prompt attempts to validate the remote database connection that is not currently available. I isolated this by removing the cache files for the remote databases and then SSMS opens at its usual speed.
I have to say that this is a very addictive product. At times, it seemed a bit annoying the way it pops up all the time (I know, this is configurable). But then when I work on a client's system without it, I definitely miss it.
