SQL Backup v5 Feedback

Initial inmpressiosn are very good - looks very neat so far.

I have tried a whole rft of things and they all seem to work perfectly but I did notice a few minor things so I joted them down:-

Bug?
I tried scheduling a job to run in 1 minute and it didnt run - so it says failed. not sure why - anyway then I clicked start and it ran and it said successfull and updating status but in the main window in the job tab the outcome is failed - is that a bug or does that mean the job ran successfully but failed in its task? - UPDATED - yeah it worked once i figured out where it shows you what was wrong.

Notes:-

In ther View Menu it could do with a refresh as I dont like having to click the treeview in software - never found it particularly reliable - does F5 work?.

Is it possible to send to multiple email addresses seperated by a semi-colon perhaps?

I take it you cant backup a database which is marked as suspect - just asking as I have one that is?

Emails arent being sent - nothing in badmail folder either.

What does File delete do? - the menu option was available and didnt ask me for any confirmation of what im about to delete.

If no file is available the properties option could be greyed out.

Cheers

We just had a quick discussion about this and the reason is that the job started successfully - it did not necessaryly complete successfully - the result in the grid are the results of the run - IE the job started successfully but the back up failed. To see the reason why the backup failed double click that row in the grid to see the properties dialog.

F5 should work if you have a server or database selected. I will put your comment about the view menu into our issue tracking database and we will look at it when we review all of the menus and context menus.

You can do this by separating each email address by a , IE: jon.doe@red-gate.com, jane.doe@red-gate.com. I will look at the text around the email address boxes and see if we can give the user a prompt about this feature.

Could you check the server options and make sure your SMTP host etc are set up correctly - also get it to send a test email from that dialog and see if it works correctly?

This deletes the currently selected server registration/server group. This is unclear in the beta and the menu option will be moved to a new Edit menu in the final release with a possible text change.

We will look at the enabled/disabled state of this menu item and button, however there can still be some use for this if there is a warning related to this backup/restore or if you just want confirmation that your backup occured without problems. I will pass this on to our usability experts.

Once again thanks for taking the time to provide us with feedback.
