restore DB across Network

As it exists in V4.x, one must go to the source server, browse for the file, copy the file and then restart the restore process after selecting the target server and pasting in the source server path.

In the Beta I cannot properly copy the File path on the source DB server. It comes out with extra chars. The datafile path should be easily copyable when selecting from the source server.

It would be even better if I can just select the tartget server for restore and browse to the source file backups. Idera makes this very easy and you need to surpass their usability on this!

    Hi,

Thanks for giving the beta a try. Can I ask you what extra characters are appearing when you paste the file path? Are there any special characters in the file path you are copying?

    Thanks
    Alan.

I unfortunately cannot paste it into this window, the format changes or attach a screen shot. . Can you try selecting the path and paste it into a new window and see the results set?[/img]

I think I see what you mean now.

On Step 1 of the Restore wizard select a backup from the backup history and click Next
On the next page select the row which displays the File Name and press Ctrl + V to copy the row. This copies the whole row and not just the file name (hence the extra characters)

    Yes this is a bug.

However if you want to restore a backup from from a network share you can select 'Browse for files' on Step 1, click Add and then copy a UNC file path into the File name field on the 'Browse for File' dialog. This isn't intuitive and we will improve this process.

If this isn't what you meant, please let me know
