Candidate List and Schema Panel collide

I just installed the Final Beta3 this morning and, with unchanged settings, fired up an SSMS Query window and typed:
USE

After the space bar the Schema Panel displayed and shortly after that, the Candidate List displayed behind the Schema List.

This feels wrong. Also, checking Schema Panel > Don't Show in the Options does not stop the Schema Panel from showing in the above code example.

Pressing ESC dismisses both windows.

I have found that I can show just the Candidate List if I press ESC after the Schema Panel displays but before the Candidate List displays, but that's not a "workaround"

    Hi James,

This is odder than you think, because the schema panel is not supposed to pop up in this situation. Could you tell me what it contains? Also, what version of MS are you using. Did you have the previous beta installed, and if so, did you uninstall it before you installed this version? Finally, what OS and language settings do you have?

    Regards,

I am sorry for taking so very long to reply to this.

I found out just today in fact (as my beta license key had expired) that I did indeed have an older beta version installed also. I must have assumed that the installer would remove the old version.

I was seeing this in SSMS. Running WinXP Pro SP2, English language settings. I have uninstalled both versions now. When I receive a new beta license I will check that this behaviour has gone away.

    Hi James,

If you get in touch with sales@red-gate.com they'll be able to tell you how to extend your trial.

If you still experience the problem with the schema panel appearing in front of the completion list, could you let me know what screen resolution you're running at please? If you're running at anything less than 1024 x 768 you'll have problems, and generally I'd recommend running at a higher resolution than this if you can. Also you may find that resizing the candidate list stops the schema panel from appearing on top of it.

    Hope that helps.

    Thanks,
    Bart

I have got the final beta patch refresh (3.0.0.819) installed and I am now not getting the problem with with the schema panel.

I have submitted further feedback in a separate post.
