    Hi,

Sorry about that. Can you please tell me what you clicked properties on? Was it a Server group, a server, a database or a backup in the activity history? Also if you have a server registered could you please tell me what version of sql backup is on the server, what type of authenication you are using to connect to that server and if possible how long you have been running backup on that server, how many databases are on the server how many backups have been taken on that server.

    Thanks
    Alan.

I clicked on a backup that shows up in the activity history and then the properties button. The server is registered with version 4.6 (I haven't installed the beta on any servers yet) It uses windows auth and backups have been running since at least october. 47 databases on the server. with log and dif backups nightly and full backups 2 times a week.

    Hi,

I have just been trying to reproduce this error - off the top of my head it doesnt look like it has anything to do with clicking properties but is more to do with some background refresh which is happening at the same time - most likely some point at which we are asking the server for any inprogress backups its running.

Does it happen often - IE is it a reproducable crash? How long has the GUI been open before it happens? or is it always when you click properties for that activity history?

Once again thanks for the feedback.

I just tried to show the backup DBA the new GUI to get his impression and it is not linked to presssing properties. It varies on how long I can have the client open before it errors and closes. Sometimes I can have it open for a long time and other times I don't even get to click on something before it errors and closes.

    Hi Giggles,

I have reproduced this exception and it happens when some activity is happening on a 4.6 server and the v5 GUI attempts to check the current activity. I have fixed this on our internal build.

Unfortunately there is no workaround at this second other than to use servers with the v5 server components only or use a server with not too much activity so the GUI doesnt crash as much.

    Thanks for finding this bug.

    Hi Giggles,

We have just release Backup 5 Beta Refresh 1, it is availible from the same location as the last installer and fixes the issue you found.

Before you use the new beta please fully uninstall the first beta as the upgrade in the installer does not work between the two betas.

Thanks once again for the heads up about the bug.
