Major Known Issues with SQL Backup 5 Beta
- Due to some third party components The Beta GUI does not support windows vista. The final release will.
- If using SQL Server Authentication to connect to the server then remote install does not work. Please run the server setup locally on the machine (SQBServerSetup.exe)
- When a server is initially registered it does not always appear in the tree view. Please collapse and reopen the root group to get the server to show up.
- If using the automatic cluster install then the server setup should be run locally on the machine rather than through the GUI. (SQBServerSetup.exe)
- The beta does not support all OS Languages. There are knownissues on the German OS and possibly others as well. There is no known workaround for the beta.
- Failed as well as successful backups sometimes appear in the grid on step one of the restore wizard.
- The command line version will expire in 14 days. Other components will continue until the final release.
- Check for updates does not currently work.
- Version 4 backups which are perfomed while the GUI is open will not always appear in the timeline - but will appear in the grid. The items will appear in the timeline after a restart of the gui.
Please also note that this beta software relies on an unsupported, pre-release version of Microsoft's embedded database (SQL Server Compact Edition) that may not operate correctly, and is subject to pre-release license terms from Microsoft. You must not use this software in a live operating environment.
