I uninstalled the previous version, installed the new version, restarted SSMS, went over the options (which look pretty nice, I might add) and then clicked "Lay Out SQL". This is the message:

SQL Refactor Trial Expired
SQL Refactor CTP has expired.
OK

My clock is set to the right day and time. I also tried a reboot to no avail.

    drsql,

I think this is still the old version. Can you uninstall, delete the install from your hard drive, download it again and then re-install please.

Installed on one of my machines easily, but had a dog of a time on the other. I searched for refactor, and deleted all of the files it found and it finally installed.

A couple of suggestions I have would be to:

    A. Label something on the install process to make it clear what you are downloading (version number, CTP, Private Beta, etc). I am guessing that the thing we download fetches the new download, but it saw mine in cache and just kept installing it.

    B. Have the new version purge the old version (of course this is beta, so I understand this one.)

Thanks. Like the product, I must say :)

The installer contains everything it needs, so the only place cashing may occur is a web cache that may cache the downloaded files from an ftp site. The label is a good idea and we will include it in the next install.

This is how it is supposed to work, and it should work this way starting with this beta, i.e. when this beta is upgraded to the release version. The problem affects only the CTP, and while we tested CTP upgrades, we have clearly missed a case. Could you send me in a private message some information about how you have installed the CTP and then the beta? (I.e. whether you installed the CTP as a user/admin, whether you unistalled it as the same/admin user, installed the beta as the same user/admin.

    Regards,
    Andras
