It sounds like you are not a local admin and you installed it using run as. This doesn't work as it needs to install some registry keys for your local user. If you look at the release notes there should be some details on installing.

Nothing could be futher from the truth. I am running it on Vista (Beta2), I am set up as an administrator and it was installed with full rights.
please advise -
Hi,
I'm afraid we don't support Vista in the beta (we will in the final release, though). Could you tell me if you get the same problem on Win2000, XP, or Win2003?

No Vista !
this is turning out to be a very disappointing beta. I run a development machine Vista in order to push our software development to take advantage of up and coming features. I do not understand the 'No current Vista' stance. I am very reluctant to install SP3 Beta on my office development machine, as SP2 works ok. from what I am reading I would be sending myself backwards. I appreciate that you want to get feedback on the product you are developing, but it would seem more of a technology preview you are offering instead of a 'beta'.
what are the issues with current Vista support ? -
Hi,
Sorry about that. The issue is that, due to time constraints, we didn't test it on Vista, at all. As a result we can't really offer any support for it, atm. I.e. I wouldn't even want to start guessing where your problem comes from.
I can understand that you don't want to install beta software on your development machine. However, if your only concern is that you will loose SQL Prompt 2, I can assure you that both can be installed side-by-side. Both can be disabled via the options dialog, so they don't interfere with one another. I've got both on my machine and haven't encountered any problems.

Hi Tilman,
I will do the install at the office today.
As for the Vista issue, how can I be of assistance ?, lets turn around the negative to make it a useful challange. I mean afterall, I signed up as a beta tester, and you guys have time constraints, let me work with you to troubleshoot Vista issues, both on the installer and program.

You are not running SQL Prompt on a 64 bit machine at all are you? The other thing that is worth checking is that the registry key
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Microsoft SQL Server\90\Tools\Shell\PreloadAddInState\RedGate.SQLPrompt.SSMSUI
exists and has a value of 1. I am very sorry that you have been having problems hopefully we will be able to sort them out.

The key did not exist. I added it manually, but still get same Class not registered. error.

! The Add-in 'SQL Prompt 3.0' failed to load or caused an exception.
Would you like to remove this Add-in?
Error Message: Class not registered

Any idea ?
