SQL Prompt not working in SQL 2005 Management Studio

SQL Prompt seems to work fine in SQL Server 2000 Query Analyzer, but it is totally dead in SQL 2005 Management Studio. I have the prompt icon in my task bar, but I can't get it to active in mgmt studio.

I am using Microsoft SQL Server Management Studio 9.00.2047.00.

If anyone has encountered this problem, how did you fix it it?

Thanks.

    Hi there,

Thanks for reporting this. Unfortunately this seems to affect some people and not others, and at the moment we're not too sure why. We are looking into it though and it will be fixed in version 3.

    Thanks,

The funny thing is that it started to work after I began typing the fully qualified line of "server.database.dbo.table". I don't know if this had anything to do with it, but it is working now since that incident.

Yes, I have to admit, that is rather baffling. We're going to be rewriting the SQL Management Studio support to make it much more reliable in the next version as it does seem to be quite flaky for some users at the moment. For now I can only apologise for the hassle it's causing you. Hopefully it'll carry on working from now on though. If it does stop working it might be worth giving the fully-qualified trick a try again as it seems that that may have encouraged SQL Prompt in some way to go and fetch the database meta-data, thus enabling it to provide you with completion info.

    Many thanks,

Hmm - me too. I downloaded SQL Prompt, installed on Windows 2003 Server/SQL 2005 and when I try to start it I get "You can only run one copy of this application at a time" popup. Indeed my task manager shows an instance running but there isn't any application window. My MgtStudio has no SQL Prompt icons in it. Could this be a security setting on my server?

An unrelated question - have you any knowledge of any ESRI ArcSDE GIS users making use of Data Compare to move spatial databases from development to production?

    Thanks

    Bruce.
