I installed le beta version of Sql prompt (2.0.0.59) but I can't get the intellisense neither in sql server 2000 (query analyser) nor in sql server 2005 (sql server management tool).

I checked the setup as descibe in the help file and tried to reboot my computer but nothing change.

Has anyone a solution ?

Is there any prerequisite for the software ?

    Bao,

For the time being, SQL Prompt will only work with English language versions of SQL Server.

OK - since it doesn't work with non-english windows I thought maybe it was a keyboard setting. I'm in Ireland using English, but my keyboard is Irish. I changed my keyboard to USA but this didn't help.

When will SQL Prompt will work, with Spanish language version of SQL Server 2000's Query Analyzer ("Analizador de consultas SQL" in spanish)? I hope it will be very soon.

    Hi,

in some of the replies you indicate English System (I assume OS) and on others it would seem that an English SQL Server installation is meant.

How about someone that knows, being very clear on what is required for what.

I have English VS2005 and English SQL Server 2005 and German OS (WXP Pro SP2).
    1. SQL Prompt DOES work with SQL Server.
    2. SQL Prompt DOES NOT work with VS 2005 (in Database Project in .sql file ;-)).

Be glad to recieve some clarity.
    Thanks.

There's also the unknown as to whether it works with Windows x64 or not. That may be a complicating factor. And wheter a keyboard driver or international input setting that could be making it not work. Would be nice to get the official word on these issues.

    Hi all,

I also have a problem with the '.'(dot).

I use a belgian keyboard and the . is not functional even i lock the shift.

I think this is because i have to press shift on a belgian keyboard to insert a point.

More then this, if i lock the shift and i choose an object that contain _ (underscore), they are transformed into - (minus) when putted in the QA editor.

This does make me think the shift key/state is not properly worked in that very usefull tool. :(

Hope that it will be corrected soon. And that Red Gates will officaly answer to this problem.

    Have a nice day all.

    Dear All,

I just wanted to write briefly to apologise for the problems you've been experiencing with SQL Prompt 2. We've been investigating this issue and we're now 90% certain that it relates to the incorrect translation of characters from the virtual keyboard.

Unfortunately in the current codebase this is very much a non-trivial fix, and would require a significant amount of effort to make it work properly. For commercial reasons we've therefore had to take the decision to postpone this fix until SQL Prompt 3.0, which will be a complete rewrite of the product from the ground up, and which will be designed as far as possible to work in all locales. If all goes according to plan the new version should be available early in September or early October 2006.

I'm only sorry that I can't provide you with a solution right now, however I can unequivocally assure you that this will not be a problem in the next version of the product.

    Kind regards,
    Bart Read

    Dear Bart,

Thank you for the clear answer.

But this make me a litlle disapointed because this key functionality make the product not so productive it should be.

This remark have not to be taken in the wrong way, it is just contructive to really say what i think.

In all cases, this product promise.

A last question, will the users of the free 2.0 version also receive a free copy of the 3.0?

    Kind Regards

    Thierry,

It is always good to have honest feedback - thank you.

SQL Prompt 3.0 will be a paid-for upgrade. We're going to enhance it significantly enough to make this worth money.

I hope there's a demo version available. Because of my experience so far - there is no way I would pay money for this unless I could see it working on my computer first.

There will be a demo version when SQL Prompt 3 is released.

I also encountered this problem. You'd better post a System Requirements in your pages so we, non-English Windows users, would not meet this problem at all.
