How does the GUI determine which SQL Servers are avaialable

Subject pretty much says it all. I have multiple installations of SQL Backup running. This is a fairly complex installation, as it involves multiple instances on a couple different clusters.

I have one GUI that can see all the clusters(virtual machines) / instances, as well as seeing the individual cluster nodes / instances.

I have a second GUI install that cannot see any of the clusters (virtual machines), nor cluster node / instances which are not 'local' to the GUI.

Any thoughts ?

SQL Backup uses standard OLE-DB functions to find SQL Server instances on the network. If it does not appear in the list of available servers, try entering the names directly and registering it.
