Can I use SQL Monitor on Amazon RDS instances?

We have an application deployed on AWS that uses Amazon Relational Data Services (RDS) as a SQL Server backend. This gives us full SQL Server access but no Windows-level access to the underlying host OS. Is there any way we can use SQL Monitor to analyze database activity on this box?

Thanks,

Dylan

Unfortunately, SQL Monitor doesn't support monitoring Amazon RDS at the moment. It might be something that will be in the future, but at the moment there is no workaround or way to force it. Even installing 'locally' would not help as it would still try to access the host machines data, including PerfMon, Remote Registry etc.

Hi there, just to confirm, is SQL Monitor still not supporting Amazon SQL Server RDS instances ?

No I'm afraid not. We're adding support for AzureDB in version 8, but no definite plans for RDS.

In SQL Monitor 10.1.7., you can now monitor Amazon RDS SQL Servers. This is currently available as a preview feature and is currently being actively developed by the SQL Monitor development teams.

This preview feature does not use any of you license allocations.

To learn more, please visit the SQL Monitor documentation site.
