Furhter exploration of the NT application Event logs shows this error as well:
"Exception happened when running extended stored procedure 'sqlbackup' in the library 'xp_sqlbackup.dll' SQL Server is terminationg process 621.
Exception type:Win32 exception;Exception code 0xc0000005." -
Are you using the beta version? That was set to expire on March 1, 2006.

Pete, I have downloaded several versions of the 'finished' release, directly from Red gate, as well as a couple directly from your personal site to provide fixes for various clustered server issues. I have also REPEATEDLY regisitered these versions (which the software appears to accept)... How can I tell if I'm running a beta ?
-
Beta versions were not registerable, so you should be using the release versions. Beta releases had version numbers less than 4.0.0.116.
Can you run the sqbmemory extended stored procedure and post its results? -

Can I send you a debug version of the xproc to isolate the error?
-
Sure, why not ?
<chuckle>
I have a trace of the startup of the GUI as well. Would you like me to send it to you ? -
PM'ed the location of the debug file to you. Thanks.

The Red Gate gui shows a red square next to my registered server, with the legend 'Unspecified error'
Can anyone shed light on this ?
