I'm assuming Tab History is causing this problem, but when I disconnect from the office network and leave SQL Mgmt Studio up, when I open my laptop at home, it tries to connect for every tab I had open. Well, I'm not connect to the network and it can take to 30-45 seconds per tab to confirm the connection timeout and I'm forced to connect to some sql server, which I end up connecting to my local instance.

This basically renders the Tab History product useless. I can't wait 5-10 minutes for SQL Mgmt Studio to free up when I open my laptop.

    Hi Chris,
I can recreate this bug on my machine and will look into a fix for you.

In the meantime you can disable automatically re-opening tabs on startup by unticking the option “Restore open tabs when SQL Server Management Studio starts†under Tab History on the options dialog.

I've just updated our beta build (6.1.0.33) which hopefully has a fix for this. It will attempt a connection in the background and only tell ssms to connect that tab if our connection succeeds.

You can download the beta from http://download.red-gate.com/EAP/SQLPro ... Prompt.zip
