Is there a way to check for all linked databases for changes and report on them? Is there a way to have all databases at least checked when SSMS is loaded as opposed to clicking each db?

Do you mean that you would like notification that there are changes in source control to get? Or that there are outstanding changes in your database that haven't been committed?
If the former, there's a uservoice suggestion, which I'd encourage you to vote for:

Outstanding changes in your database that haven't been committed. It takes a manual step of clicking on the databases to initiate the compare.
