Hi, is there a version of SQL Compare and SQL Data Compare for SQL Server 2005? Or is there a planned release date for a compatible version>

    Hi Eric,

SQL 2005 will be fully-supported in version 4 (the next version). SQL Compare, Data Compare, and Packager already work with SQL 2000 databases that have been upgraded to 2005 and are either operating in 80 compatibility or native, when not incorporating any of the new objects introduced in 2005.

    Hi Brian-
Do you have an estimated date for the release of version 4?

    Thanks

Internally yes. But I'm supposed to be keeping a lid on it.

The Beta is running since last week, if that's any indication.

Any news on when 4.0 is going to be released ?

We love SQLCompare and can't wait to use it on 2005.

    Brian:

In your reply you indicated that this will be FULLY supported in version 4. What about with the current version? Though not supported is it possible to use this tool for synchronizing the database between 2000 and 2005 version at all. If yes are there any known issues.

    Thanks

    Hello,

SQL Compare 3.2.1.14 will work with SQL Server 2005, provided the databases being compared don't have any SQL 2005-specific object types in them. So if you simply upgrade a 2000 Server to 2005 or if you restore a 2000 database to a 2005 server, you can compare it just fine.
