Oddness when SQL Monitor 2.3 is installed on our clusters.

In Add monitored server, I put in just the instance name.
The monitor correctly brings back the cluster and both nodes along with the correct instance names on each node (Active/Active set up)

On another cluster I do the same thing, but this cluster is active/passive.
Monitor correctly brings back the 2 nodes in the cluster as before, but the instance name is (local) and all the databases are shown as OFFLINE

I've tried removing it, entering the FQN of the server, editing credentials... nothing works.

Any ideas?

    Hello,

(local) is not an issue because it depends on whether the SQL Server instance is named or default. If it is default then it will be displayed as (local).

Regarding databases being offline, is there any kind of clock skew between base monitor and any nodes of these clusters? Are there any connection errors?

    Thanks,
    Priya

There are no alerts being fired on that server (at least none in the last 24 hours)

Drilling down into the server reports, I can see it collected stats for things like batches per sec etc, but the databases are still all showing as offline.

    Hi,

Do you see any connection errors on Configuration > Monitored servers page? Any clock skew?

    Thanks,
    Priya

    Hi,

Could you try restarting the base monitor services via Service console (services.msc from Run menu)? It is called 'SQL Monitor 2 Base Monitor'. In the meanwhile, please email me at priya.sinha@red-gate.com log files also from base monitor machine. It should be at C:\ProgramData\Red Gate\Logs\SQL Monitor 2 or equivalent location.

    Thanks,
    Priya

    Further Info.

came in this morning, and althoug the (Local) instance is still shown in Manage Monitored Servers, it no longer shows up in the Global overview page for the cluster.

I need to sort this asap.

    Hi,
specify tsicipr02.tslweb.local\<sqlinstancename> in the add sql sertver to monitor. Since sql server is installed on a cluster you must use a named instance!
