    Hi dippies,

Does the slowness start when you open a SQL script? It may be that some particular SQL constructs are making SQL Prompt struggle. If so, please send a copy of your script to support@red-gate.com so we can investigate.

    Hi,
Ok so with only one windows open sql prompt works ok, but not as quick as before on xp and different laptop configuration. with every sql script I open or write the performance goes slower and slower and the bigger the script.... to a state where there is no point using sql prompt.

I am also seeing this. In SPs with 5 or more temporary tables.
I have gone back to 5.1.4 and find that the problem is far less pronounced. It still has high CPU activity but for much shorter periods making it workable.

Thanks to help from atompkins, the developers have traced the slowdown to a build setting that inadvertently changed between 5.1.4 and 5.1.6, and which slowed down some of the parsing code.

Meanwhile, we've spotted some other optimisations that should speed things up as well. Subject to testing, we hope to get these out in the next bug-fix release.

I appreciate everyone's patience in this matter.

    Hi,

I am experiencing same issue, where can I download 5.0 or different version which doesn't have this issue? I am using 5.1.6.

    Thanks

You can get old versions of Red Gate products at http://www.red-gate.com/downgrade . You'll need to uninstall your current version from the Control Panel before installing an older SQL Prompt.

I'll post back here when we have a new release that improves the situation, so that you can get back onto the latest version.

Thanks. It seems that my issues started when I was experimenting with thousands of SQL objects. I think that than it slowed down. I saw some manual "cache control" of SQL Prompt in previous version. Is it possible to delete cache for SQL Prompt 5?
