Please do post the log file for a couple of the backups that failed on the first attempt.
Thanks. -
There are four files for May 12th on their way to the support email inbox, citing this thread.
Thanks. -
Does the new 6.5.1.9 help with this problem?

Hi Chris,
Until your post I was unaware of the dot-release but have begun to install it. I followed Peter Yeoh's advice to create the timeout DWORD and initially set it to 60 seconds, which I upped to 80 seconds a few days ago and timeout backup failures have ceased.
It may have been "environmental" as the network at Rackspace has given us tons of timeout issues, typically on Windows authentication requests and sometimes on SQL Monitor pinging the cluster. Taking 90 seconds to change a Windows password is molasses and a further indication of environmental factors contributing to the issue.
Will see how the new release performs...
Cheers! -
Did it improve things?

I'll know in a few days...

The issue was because a checkpoint process was blocking the backup process from running. As the backup was blocked for more than 30 seconds, SQL Backup aborted the backup process, and attempted it again later when the blocking process completed. The alternative was to use a timeout value longer than 30 seconds.

Had just one VDI Timeout failure early today. Far fewer incidents but not "cured" yet.

2 weeks on and failures are down to 1 per week or less. Much improved.
"Thread Ends".

However, I'm now getting 3 or 4 PER DAY!
Assistance, please... I'll gladly furnish the SB Log file...
Thanks.
