I'm trying to install our company copy of SQL Compare 7 on a new laptop. Upon doing so I got a message stating that "The number of activations for this serial number has been exceeded".

So I boot up my old laptop, download the deactivation tool, run it, and I get an error stating "There is a problem with deactivating your serial number." I know it's not internet connection because I just downloaded the tool, and I highly doubt it has anything to do with the connection not allowing SOAP requests.

I'm unable to install the product and need some help here.

    Thanks for your post.

    Proxy servers can sometimes interfere with the deactivation process unfortunately, however if you contact us at support@red-gate.com with your serial number we should be able to work something out.
