Intermittant Transaction Log Backup Failures

I get intermittant backup failures when trying to backup the transaction logs. the following is the error a typical error in the SQL Errorlog.


BackupVirtualDeviceSet::Initialize: Open failure on backup device 'SQLBACKUP_19203613'. Operating system error 0x80070002(The system cannot find the file specified).

VDI log contains
2005/09/28 00:48:26 pid(1532) tid(2084)
Error on Global\SQLBACKUP_22349341
Error at SVDS::Open: Open(control) Status Code: 2, x2
Explanation: The system cannot find the file specified.



Note: It is backing up to a network share, and the next database's transaction log backup completed successfully to the same share less than 4 seconds later. We run transaction log backups every 20 minutes for 15 database and this only occurs every couple of hours. It does not only happen for the same database.
