This is a known issue with Windows 7 which I have logged for a customer couple of months before.
I have added your comments to the bug whose tracking id is SP-2946.

Has this been addressed? I just installed and activated 5.0.0.651 and I am experiencing the exact same thing.
I am running Windows 7.
