Applying Prior Versions of Objects Without SQL Compare

Greetings,

It's my understanding that in order to apply a prior version of an object from the repository, you need to retrieve the desired prior version of the CREATE script from the repository and then use SQL Compare to synchronize the desired script to the database.

Is there a way to do this on a system that does not have SQL Compare installed? Some of my team members who are helping me with the evaluation do not have SQL Compare installed.

Thanks in advance,
jfennell

Unfortunately this is not possible for the time being, nor will it make it for v1.0, although is it a feature that is high up on our candidate list for a subsequent release.

In the meantime, as you're evaluating SQL Source Control, an option is to get your colleagues to install SQL Compare and request trial extension keys from support@red-gate.com

Alternatively, if one of you is licensed for SQL Compare Pro, you can perform this task on behalf of those who don't have it.

For a full end-to-end database development solution, we'd strongly recommend developers acquire a SQL Developer Bundle license. This is a really cost effective way of getting all Red Gate's SQL Server development tools, and benefits from attractive bulk discounts.

    Kind regards,
