Need to uninstall and reinstall Reflector

Hello,

I am really anxious to try the new Reflector Pro. I downloaded the free version with the 14 day Pro trial. Yesterday it worked find. Today, I am getting an error message:

The Add-in '.Net Reflector' failed to load or caused an exception.
Would you like to remove this Add-in?
If you choose yes, the file it was loaded from, 'P:\Visual Studio 2008\AddIns\RegGate.Reflector.Addin', will be renamed.

Error Message: The system cannot find the file specified.

Error number: 80070002

The RedGate.Reflector.Addin file exists in the directory specified. I cannot find an uninstall. Would it be possible to have a real installer so that you could control where it went, etc? I tried deleting all of the files out of the P drive and redownloading, but I get the same error.

I am a contractor so my Documents and Settings folder is mapped to a network drive. I downloaded it to a folder on my local drive. Maybe that is why it is getting confused.

    Hi.

The .Addin file that you get in the bug report has an <Assembly>..</Assembly> element that gives the path to the directory where the Reflector.exe was running when the addin was installed. I imagine that this directory has been deleted and hence the load of the addin fails.

You can recreate the Addin file to point somewhere else using the Tools/Integration options dialog in Reflector - select the version and OK the dialog and a new Addin file should be generated which will point Visual Studio to the directory of the currently running reflector.exe. [You may need to uncheck and OK to get the previous Addin file removed]

I'm having the same issue and it's frustrating, especially when you're eager to explore the features like with Reflector Pro. I wish there was a proper installer that let us control the install path—network drives can be tricky. For anyone using mapped drives like in a Driveway Paving Riverside office setup, this kind of error can really slow things down. Hoping for a fix soon!

Mapped drives definitely complicate things. I’ve run into similar issues where add-ins lose track of their paths after a reboot or network hiccup. A proper installer with path control would make setups way less fragile, especially in environments like ours.
