I am reluctant to install the new Reflector because of the Visual Studio integration. Does the installer give me the option of NOT integrating with Visual Studio?

If not, please consider this an enhancement request (I would like the same for ANTS as well!).

Thanks,

    Hi John,
You can cleanly uninstall the add-in using tools>integration options within Reflector, if you don't find the "Open in .NET Reflector" feature usefu. There is absolutely nothing left over in VS once you've done that.

    Cheers,

I registered just to say your current installers are unacceptable. Any add-ins for a product that is not yours should be optional, not automatic. I don't want to trust your option menu to cleanup anything, nor should anyone have to take an extra step to make do so. If I can't trust the Reflector installer to keep it's hands to itself when it installs, why would I trust it uninstalls correctly, or didn't install something else I don't know about or want?

Visual Studio has crashed twice due to your reflector add-in that I didn't ask for, and didn't have the option of refusing, costing me time to figure out how to uninstall it.

I'm using your profiler and would be much happier without the Visual Studio integration as well. You've lost another customer unless this is corrected, I'd love to see what Refactor Pro does, and would probably end up getting a few licenses, but not with your current installer. It's intrusive and unbelievably arrogant to believe all your customers would want this.

Try this: Name one other piece of software I pay for where add-ons to other products are not optional.

If anyone is experiencing problems between Reflector and Visual Studio, please get in touch so we can get the details and resolve any problems. Email: support@red-gate.com

Just as a reminder, you can easily uninstall the .NET Reflector Visual Studio integration at any time by going to Tools > Integration options in the Reflector UI and unchecking the option.

    Thank you!

StephenC -- you are deliberately missing the point.

We do not agree to having out Visual Studio settings changed. Its all well and good to say 'look how easy it is to undo it' but the point is that it should not have been done without consent. There should be a 'Do you want to integrate Reflector into Visual Studio?' message box during the upgrade.

(And yes, I also had to register a new account for your forums just to give you this feedback. )
