It would be very, very helpful if RedGate just started putting “compatible with” after each release update on all their SSMS integrated products, so we know when we can move to a new SSMS. / comments

SSMS 22.6.0
I'm trying to get ahead of the game. Can anyone from RedGate confirm that we're OK to upgrade to SSMS 22.6.0 without breaking every add-in again?SQL PromptSQL SearchSQL Source Control
After the latest updates, I took the plunge. Downloaded all latest versions of Red-Gate products I use, installed them on the older SSMS 22.4.1. Then, installed 22.5.x (latest). Opened, tried accessing a database, crash. Crashed every time. Uninstalled -all- Red-Gate products. Then, simply re-installed the same products I had downloaded earlier. on top of 22.5.x. Now 22.5.x is behaving just fine. / comments

I urge people, if they rely on Red-Gate tools, to not upgrade SSMS to _any_ new release until you see each tool state that it supports the latest SSMS. I've gone through this so many times - upgrade, then break immediately. I've come to peace with the fact that I value my Red-Gate products working more than the very latest SSMS release, AND that they very rarely do they “just work” even for a minor point release in the SSMS world. / comments

Paul, This version of SQL Prompt works with SSMS 22.3. However, SQL Search will (currently) cause failure if you also have that installed. I have both SQL Prompt (latest) and SQL Source Control (latest) installed without issue. https://download.red-gate.com/checkforupdates/SQLPrompt/SQLPrompt_11.3.6.21421.exe Note that I also couldn't get rid of the issues until I (export your settings first just in case) fully uninstalled SSMS and then installed the latest version from the ground up, then installed the RedGate tools. / comments

I posted this over on sql server central… After multiple reverts, re-dos and uninstall / re-installs, this is where I'm at. Uninstalled SQL Prompt, SQL Search, SQL Source Control. Uninstalled SQL 22.2.0 fully, rebooted. Upgrading/downgrading never fixed underlying problems. Installed SQL 22.3.0 vanilla. Launched, it worked fine. Installed SQL Prompt 11.3.6.21421, launched, working fine. Installed SQL Search 3.9.4.6402, launched, BOMB. Uninstalled SQL Search, launched, all back to being OK. So SQL Search is a no-go for now. Installed SQL Source Control 8.1.6.23205, launched, working fine. But, then SQL Prompt was missing from the toolbar. I went into Extensions and unchecked the oddly double entries of SQL Prompt, and it restarted. After SSMS restart, the menu is there again and things are working (so far). The key overall was to uninstall SSMS completely; doing downgrades and upgrades never fixed the underlying issue. Then, I was able to isolate SQL Search as my particular issue. / comments

FYI I installed SSMS 22, then installed the very latest version of SQL Prompt which supports SSMS 22. I then opened SSMS 21 and poked about. Closed it. Then opened SSMS 22, and other than switching the menu settings so the menus appear (it's in RedGate's latest docs), everything was there and came over this time. Same goes for SQL history, etc. So this round - things seemed to work OK! / comments

I would appreciate some guidance on the migration from SSMS 21 to SSMS 22 in this area as well… the last conversion was a bit of a mess. If I have both SSMS 21 and 22 installed, do they continue to share settings in some way, or is it a one-time import and done, etc. / comments
