This looks like it could be related to how Microsoft Defender is consuming an Extended Events stream rather than a genuinely expensive query. sys.fn_MSxe_read_event_stream is designed to keep running while waiting for new event data, so Redgate Monitor can understandably interpret it as a long-running request. It would be useful if Monitor had a way to exclude known system/Defender queries from the long-running query alert or status calculation, especially when the query is present consistently across every monitored instance. / comments
