Thanks,  To troubleshoot I removed all the packages and my tabs are now connecting.  Now I'll go back and incrementally reinstall with the latest versions. / comments

I'm having the same issue.  Installed 9.4.16.9097  last week and now the tabs are not reconnecting.  In SSMS 2014 I added the connect button to the tool bar so I don't have to close and reopen the tab, but the biggest pain for me is I have tabs across multiple databases and the tool bar db select is slow. / comments
