Someone kindly called me yesterday to discuss. She is testing to determine if she can reproduce.
I am suspicious of SQL prompt 3.7 causing the issue somehow. I plan to remove all products, then install all except SQL Prompt. The test the other products.

I will post my results.

One issue with uninstallation.
The SQL Refactor and SQL Prompt Menus still appear in SQL Server Management Tool.......greyed out.
How can these be removed to insure they are completely gone before I reinstall the other products? / comments

I had time to reinstall the products......but I did not install
SQL Prompt or SQL Refactor. They still appear grey in the
SQL Server management Studio....and cannot be removed by the
process in the link. They do not appear on Tools/Customize.
After installing the remaining products I tested SQL Compare and
SQL Doc standalone. They worked fine.
When I launch SQL Compare from within SQL Server Management Studio
from the Tools Menu, the SQL Compare splash screen appears, then
there is an error dialog.
The event viewer shows:
.NET Runtime 2.0 Error
Faulting application redgate,sqlcompare.ui.exe 6.2.0.271, stamp
471df775, faulting module unknown, version 0.0.0.0, stamp 00000000,
debug? 0, fault address 0x026321cb
I will stop installation of the other products until I hear from you on the above. / comments

Yes........that is indeed the problem. Unchecked and performance is back to a good level. And I am also using integrated security with dbo priviledge...not sa.
Will look out for the update since we do use cross database in many cases. / comments

Actually....the performance issue is whenever you are just typing within a heavily indented block of code. For some reason, all operations seem slow in those areas.
For instance, if SQL Refactor reformats the code in a section to be indented to a depth of say 25 spaces....then you go to the middle of
the block and try to add a line. Entering the 25 spaces to get to the
proper location is extremely slow....you lose the cursor for up to a second or two. Completion function also seem slow when you finally get to the right position.
If you turn off SQL prompt off, the effect disappears. I don't know what SQL prompt is trying to do.....it's very strange behavior.
The 3.5 version improves a bit, but it's still very noticeable. / comments

Thanks for you reply.
Yes.....RC 3.5 is much better.
We found that the poor perfomance was in areas that were heavily indented.....as a result of using SQL Refactor.
In non-indented areas, performance is pretty good....3.5 even better. / comments

Is there any way to temporarily disable SQL Promt to avoid the performance issue????? Something is definitely wrong with performance. Editing is becoming unproductive. / comments
