At this point we have rebuilt the cluster on Windows 2003 R2 as we had a client deadline to meet and MSFT could not identify what was going on in a short time frame.
After doing some research it appeared that the default gateway was disappearing from the nics thus the cluster would die. MSFT could not determine is this was the casue of the issue of just another symptom of the main cause. / comments

When running filemon on this particular cluster I get the following error:
"The image file c:\filemon64.exe is valid, but is for a machine type other than the current machine"
It would appear that filemon is not compatible with Itanium 64 bit server.
Please let me know if there is a log that the gui creates or if logging is available. / comments

Install goes perfectly and the only thing in the application log is this
Computer: DALP1SQL02B
Description:
Product: SQL Backup 5 -- Installation operation completed successfully.
Basicly when I try and open the GUI I get a splash screen and cpu goes up for about 10~15 seconds then the RedGate.SqlBackup.UI.exe*32 process dies.
I have uninstalled and reinstalled the software but I keep getting the same results / comments

It appears my problem was trying tp restore via UNC as after I copied the files to the local server I was able to do the restore. Is there a threshhold that you should not go above when doing a restore from a unc path, this backup file is close to 60gb in size?? / comments

Another bit of information. My full backup had the memory issue last night and was supposably successfull on the first retry basied on the logs but I wanted to validate the backup before I sent the tape to the DR site. When I try opening the backup files via the GUI there is a red X in the ok column and it does not give me the oportunity to decrypt the files. Again the backup looks to be successfull from the log and from SQL. I belive there is a major bug here that needs to be addressed. I have over 150 sql servers with almost 1000 databases and can not validate each backup every day. Hope you understand my growing frustration. / comments
