I use SQL Monitor to monitor SQL servers running on VM's hosted by VMWare ESX 5.1. I have noticed descrepencies in the stats collected too, such as CPU will be showing as maxed out via Virtual Center, but never going over 80% via SQL monitor.
I took this down to being due to the different ways the two system monitor the server. Namely, SLQ monitor doesn't look all the time, but polls the system. / comments

I've received a support call about this issue, but when I view it it says the call doesn't exist.
Either way, I have had to remove and reinstall SQL Monitor and destroy the database as there was no way for me to recover from the problem as I couldn't extent the disk and the database had no free space in it.
Before I reinstalled I could see the purge options were working. If I changed the purge time to just one weeks of data, then this is all that was shown on the analysis page of SQL Monitor. Even though the data has purged the free space of the data file never increased.
There had been no changes in the number of databases or instances being monitored. I will keep an eye on the data growth and monitor for unusual patterns. / comments

Thanks. I knew it was something like that! The service and agent account were not domain accounts. I have now changed and all working ok. / comments

Perfect. Thanks for the quick reply, that's definitely something to keep an eye on. I'll see if this resolves the issue.
Thanks again. / comments

Hi,
Did you find moving the base monitor to a new server resolve this issue? I am having exactly the same symptoms with one server always having SQL Monitoring Stopped errors, with no login failures on the server. The server is working fine ad the error is ended in a few seconds.
Thanks. / comments

Hi,
I am using Firefox 23, but we have a monitoring pc which uses IE 9 and the same thing happens on there.
I am using the supplied XSP webservice.
I cannot pin down how often this happens, roughly 4 or 5 times a day, and it is not a massive problem as just manually refreshing the page solves it. However it would be good to resolve it on the monitoring pc so I dont have to keep logging on to refresh it! (i.e. I'm lazy!)
Thanks. / comments

I found the only way to get the backup history to display quickly, was to reduce the amount of history data held down to 5 days worth. Even then it takes about 30 seconds to refresh. / comments

Thanks, I didn't have the account in the local admin on the monitor server.
All working now. / comments

Is there any updates to this issue? I am still experiencing it with 7.4 release. It is very frustrating. / comments
