The option is already disabled. It seems to be working as expected now (ie. retaining the history). But for some reason there is still a hole in the history records.
I have records:-
31-05-2007 to 22-05-2007
then a big hole until 23-10-2003, after which the history is as expected. / comments

Yes, it happened every time. The error also came up at the start when it asks you to register/import servers. As soon as I selected/deselected a server to import the same error popped up.
I tried uninstalling and reinstalling it, but that made no difference.
Unfortunately due to incompatibilities with some other software I rebuilt my machine yesterday. Under Windows XP it seems to work fine. / comments

Thanks for that Peter,
Problem was being caused because the SQL account was not a AD/Domain account. Switched the service to use an AD/Domain account and it works ok now.
I guess v4 was less picky about this. / comments

I am also getting the error
"SQL Error 15404: Coul not obtain information about Windows NT Group/User..."
The account that it's complaining about, is an local admin on the server (windows 2003), DBO on the database (SQL 2005), and has been explicitly given DBO access on all databases. / comments

I have also had to give execute access to sqbStatus.
Otherwise once in a while the GUI would complain about not having access to it and drop the connection to the server. / comments

Found the problem, I was trying to restore an incomplete backup file.
This had been created because when ever I update/modify the job using SQL Backup GUI it keeps on defaulting the save location to an old path.
At some point I must have modified the job and not changed the default path back to what I wanted. / comments

The error message was on the 'Connect to Base Monitor' page but the log in page auto redirected to it.
The problem itself went away the next morning, with no intervention.
Other than this issue, the upgrade seems to have gone well. / comments

Done the upgrade, but not unable to log in now.
Seems to have lost the "Base Monitor" settings, and when I put the details in the following error is presented.
llegal operation attempted on a registry key that has been marked for deletion. (Exception from HRESULT: 0x800703FA)
