Hi
I'm having issues recreating this issue internally. I have created several deadlock alerts but each time the sql query fragment can also be found in the trace listing.
I did notice that when copy/pasting the trace into notepad that the search for the fragment didn't work for me due to it being pasted in with no space between the fragment and the date (as follows):
7 Jan 2011 11:06:22UPDATE ##17826ade WITH (PAGLOCK) SET col1 = 1
The trace presented should be 40 seconds of trace for that process, 20 seconds prior and 20 seconds after the deadlock occurrence. We get the fragment from SQL Server and are limited by what we can do here but in theory the fragment should appear in the trace.
What are the date/times displayed in the trace listing and do they cover the point in time that the deadlock occurred?
In the meantime, I have raised a couple of enhancement requests
SRP-3032 - Make it easier to locate the SQL query fragment in the trace listing
SRP-3033 - Investigate improving the query fragment to include more context.
Thanks

I'm not exactly sure how SQL Monitor gets the sql query fragment for deadlock alerts but checking my system, I notice that the exact same fragment appears in the SQL Server Error logs so I'd guess we read it directly from there.
We do have other reported issues along these lines: http://www.red-gate.com/MessageBoard/vi ... hp?t=12473
We will be investigating and hopefully improving the trace collection for version 2.2.

Hi
In a nutshell yes, although we haven't finalised the product roadmap yet so I can't be more specific as to which version it'll go in.
Support for Active Directory or Windows Authentication will probably depend on the number of customer requests.

Hi
Have you enabled ASP.NET for the IIS installation?
If you can check Server Manager > Add Roles (or Add Features I always forget which) and under Internet Information Services check the ASP.NET box. I think that this will solve the issue.
Thanks

Hi Kevan
This seems sensible and I've raised it as an enhancement (ref: SRP-2790).
Thanks for the feedback

We have some performance guidelines available at http://www.red-gate.com/supportcenter/C ... 126997.htm
There is a section called 'Hardware requirements and performance guidelines'. This is just a summary but is based upon our experience load testing SQL Monitor internally. We haven't published further details but this is something we could possibly do in the future if there is a demand for it.
Hope this helps

Hi
We have a help page dedicated to troubleshooting our various data collection methods. It's worth trying the 'Testing WMI' section for any servers that are getting this problem. This should highlight whether it's a configuration issue or not. http://www.red-gate.com/supportcenter/C ... 269935.htm

We currently have an in-built 30 second refresh for the Alert Inbox. If no alerts are generated the refresh won't be apparent however.
If you want to reduce this then browsers such as Opera and Firefox can be configured to auto-refresh at user-specified intervals.
We have an enhancement request (ref: SRP-400) concerning the ability to sort alerts in the Inbox. This will be included in a future release.
Thanks

Our Supported platforms and hardware requirements page gives some guidance as to how many servers a single instance of our base monitor service can handle http://www.red-gate.com/supportcenter/C ... 126997.htm
As a rule of thumb I wouldn't suggest attempting to monitor more than 50 servers with a single service but obviously this does depend on how powerful the host machine is.
Breaking the system up would definitely help. The base monitor service will be very busy and needs a dedicated machine. The web server and SQL Server repository would ideally be on separate machines.
