Thanks for your question.
If you go to your SQL Prompt tab within SSMS, click options > types of suggestion and make sure the 'list system objects' box is checked. Then go back to the SQL Prompt tab > Refresh Suggestions.
Now when you type sp_helptext it should give you the same options as EXEC sp_helptext.
I hope this helps. / comments

Thanks,
Thanks for contacting Red Gate.
The error is unfortunately quite vague, but it does look like it might be a bug, and may quite likely have been fixed in v9.
Would you be able to download a trial version of v9 to see if it helps?
I will email you a trial key for this, you need to deactivate SQL Compare 8, download and install a trial copy of SQL Compare 9, then reactivate using the trial code.

Thanks for your question.
I don't think there is a way of 'testing' the script, however, when you run the synchronisation wizard, if you click 'Synchronise using SQL Compare' and then check the box which says 'Back up target before synchronisation' which will create a SQL Compare snapshot of your databases or allow you to perform a backup at the end of the wizard. / comments

I'm fairly sure that v7 has this option, but if you click the options tab when you create a new project, you can check the box for 'do not use transactions in synchronisation scripts'. This should stop you getting that error, however, something to bear in mind is that it wont roll back if the script fails so you need to make sure you're happy with it before you synchronise.
I hope this answers your question, if you're unsure whether or not you are eligible for more recent versions of the tool, give is a call and speak to the sales team, or you can email sales@red-gate.com.
I hope this helps.
