I'm seeing it on a 2000 database while "Reading Ojbect text". It works on version 5, but it does slow down on 5 while going through that step. This is the first 2000 database I've run it against. It looks to be this database because I've checked different servers that have it. Let me know if you need more information. / comments

Thanks. You're right. It generated the correct script just fine. I'd still suggest making the change so that it behaves more like version 5 because it just makes for more clear behavior. / comments

OK. It cleared, for a second, when I went to kill it. It was showing results, but now it's hung again.
I was able to kill the connection. When I restarted it still had the configuration saved. Which is good.
I set these options:
White space, Comments, Full Text Indexing & User's permissions
In More Options:
Force Column Order, Fill factor and index padding, Filegroups etc, Extended properties, User properties, with element order
I went ahead and re-ran the compare. It shows all the objects being registered & compared and then shows the completions screen. This time when I went past the completion screen, everything seems to be working.
I'll let you know how it goes from here. / comments

Hello,
I do currently have 5.0 installed on this machine. I'm running XP Version 2002 sp 2.
I will keep an eye out for it. I'm running through the tool trying stuff out. So far this is the only problem I've hit. / comments

Oops. Yeah, I left that out. It's on 2000, so it may be time to do some negotiation with some of our users. I'm not exactly jazzed about giving them dbo. I'll send them the suggestion on the beer though because that might grease the skids.
Thanks for the help. / comments

Thanks for posting, we do have all these things in mind and we'll obviously continue to improve SQL Prompt as time goes on. Now as far as SQL Server 2005 SP2 goes SQL Prompt 3 should work OK. If you're having problems can you please provide me with more specific details about the issues you're experiencing and we'll take a look into them?
I just happened by these posts by accident, but for what it's worth, I've been using SQL Prompt with SP2 for a couple of weeks with no issues at all (except of course that MS has now release sp2a). / comments

I see where you're getting the issue, but I don't get it if I build my FROM clause first, with aliases. Then, when working on the SELECT or WHERE clauses, the alias is picked up by the tool.
The problem is, more often than not, that's not the way I build a query. I tend to, and I think everyone else does to, type "down." Meaning I type the SELECT list, then the FROM list, then the WHERE clause.
Still, maybe making an adjustment in how I type up the queries is worth the use of the tool. / comments

Sorry I didn't get back to you sooner, I've been out of town. Yes, reregistering the DLL worked. I did have to modify what you sent me since I'm working on a 64 bit machine, but everything seems to fine again. / comments

At this point, I'm honestly unsure. I believe I was running the latest version of 4. Sorry, I realize that's not helpful for your troubleshooting. / comments

I must have explained that poorly, but yes, you're stating the problem exactly. / comments
