Angelgar,
Sorry about the delay in replying, I have been out of the office for a few days. One of the SQL Backup developers suggested that you run a File Mon trace (http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/sysi ... 96642.aspx) and let us know which files are being accessed. This may assist us with debugging the issue.

Hi angelgar,
Sorry to hear about your problems, we haven't been able to reproduce this in house yet.
By any chance was there a stack trace?
Also can you let me know what is on screen at the point of the shutdown? Has the splash screen been taken down yet? Has the server list been displayed?
Thanks,

Hi,
Yes it is command line only at the moment. We have added an ERASEFILES_REMOTE keyword to the Backup and Restore commands which works in the same way as the current ERASEFILES file command.
Hope this helps,

Jeff,
Yes, I imagine that we will look to integrate this in a future version of SQL Backup UI, it should be fairly easy to implement. However, at the moment we haven't an outlook of when this will be.

Hi there Plavalle,
You should have the functionality that you are after in the next few weeks when we release SQL Backup 5.3. We have implemented an ERASEFILES_REMOTE option to allow you to specify a different purge duration for files in remote locations.

Hi there,
In a few weeks you should have a solution to this problem as SQL Backup 5.3's manual installer will allow you to chose the location of your SDF file at install.
Hope this helps,

Hi Chris,
I imagine that you and others are interested in what we are including in SQL Backup 5.3. Well here are the highlights:
• Usability updates to the Back up wizard
• Fixing an issue where multi-threaded backups could hang or crash using compression level 3
• Adding support for the "WITH PARTIAL" keyword
• SQL Backup now provides different purge options for local and network drives
• Adding an option so users can filter the backup history that is pulled from msdb
• Improving the performance of the ERASEFILES and ERASEFILES_ATSTART options
• Failover is now optional if the SQL Backup service fails to start in a clustered environment
• Allowing cluster users to choose the location for the data.sdf at install time
• Improving SQL Backup's handling of timeouts
• Shipping the maintenance plan conversion tool with SQL Backup 5
• Adding an additional option to send email notifications when a warning is generated, and the content and behavior of error and warning emails has been improved
Hope that helps, a more complete list will be posted with the release.
