Hi there,
Thanks for your post.
SQL Compare reports will only show results for objects that have been selected for synchronization (i.e. objects that have a tick in the middle column of checkboxes).
In previous versions of Compare, all objects were automatically selected, but this behaviour has been changed in v8 after user tests showed that usually people only want to consider a small number of objects, or had worries that they may synchronize things by mistake.
We're aware of how this affects reporting though: would you rather have the reports always consider all objects regardless of their checkbox state?
Or would an option to choose whether to include all objects or just selected ones be better?
Your thoughts on this would be much appreciated!

Hi Stefano,
Sorry for not replying sooner: you're right, the Ignore Replication option is not working when synchronising from snapshots in the current release of SQL Compare  .
We hope to have this issue fixed for the next release - please accept our apologies for any inconvenience caused in the mean time.

Hi BJHop,
Can you check a couple of additional things please?
1. Is the registry key for RoboSource Control in HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\software\SourceCodeControlProvider pointing to a valid key?
2. Does your user have permissions set to access the registry?

Hi Angelo,
If you can send me (alice.easey@red-gate.com) some snapshots or scripts of the databases in question, I'll take a look for you and see if I can shed some light onto what the problem might be.

Just to clarify this point a little:
There is a bug in SQL Compare where if the synchronisation process involves dropping an index, the index will be dropped; regardless of whether or not the Ignore Indexes option has been turned on.
Unfortunately SQL Compare doesn't yet work out which situations are safe to retain the index, but hopefully this issue will be looked at for a future release.

Hi Nate,
You're right, it is a bug (although I don't think the length of the function name is a factor, it is more likely that the data type is not being picked up in table valued functions).
Sorry if it's causing you problems in the current version - I've added it to our list and we'll look into fixing it. / comments

The functionality of choosing which backup file to compare should be working.
In order to select the backup set you have to click on the "Compare" checkbox; it can be a bit misleading because it's possible to highlight the line displaying the backup set by clicking on it - but it will not actually select it for comparison unless the "Compare" checkbox is ticked.
There is also a bug where the Project Config screen doesn't remember which backup set you've chosen - so if you do a comparison and then edit the project, the backup set may get reset to to latest one.
I hope this helps - please let us know if you're still having this problem. / comments
