Indeed after entering in the serial it does state Standard.
However, there is no mention of the Std product at *all* anymore, so I was afraid I was being moved to the lite version without understanding why.
It would be really helpful on the upgrade page to let us know that the Std version isn't shown, but is part of the upgrade.
If I missed that somewhere, my apologies.

I emailed them and received a prompt reply - I assure you there was nothing odd or insidious about it.

I should add more...
I realized (belatedly) that there is a server program which attempts to connect about once a minute to all databases on this sql server.
I guess it's *possible* that in between the full and differential restore it somehow gets the connection and the diff then cannot be processed.
However, this same thing happened on our other sql boxes, so I'm pretty sure this isn't it. / comments
