It works for me, and I know some other people have been using it successfully (for example wizzard0 in this topic): http://www.red-gate.com/messageboard/vi ... php?t=9945
Let me know more details, or please use the exception reporting dialog to submit an exception report. Let me know the exact time you send the exception report if you'd like me to make sure I check the right one.

nesher,
I've put in more useful exception handling for this case. Could you reproduce the problem, then send in the smartassembly exception report that happens.
Thanks! / comments

Thanks for the report. It worked for the previous beta I think, we'll give it another test. / comments

I understand. I've tried to follow my own instructions, but as you say, they didn't work. I'm afraid there is no way to find the details about an instance from the object retention graph in this version. I'll add it as a request for the next version.
Thanks, / comments

I've just tried this again to help another customer, and it seems to work in some situations. I'm baffled now. / comments

One way to do it is to right click the object and choose "Show Object Retention Graph for this object". That'll make the "current" object the one you've chosen, so if you then go to the instance list, it'll be selected.
Hope that helps, / comments

That was good fun to debug. Unfortunately, I'm not going to be able to fix it completely, as the function (the constructor of PCDataContext) is just too large, and causes a stack overflow. It's not worth rewriting to avoid the recursive walking the contents of the method, but I've put in something to avoid crashing VS completely. It'll be in the next build.
Thanks, / comments

Yes, I'd be really interested to get the assembly that causes that crash. I've sent you an email.
Thanks a lot, / comments

Thanks for the suggestions, the next build will remove duplicated assemblies from the list. We hope to do a very simple type-down search in the list soon too. / comments
