                        Thanks Eddie.
I would hope that Red Gate would register using the full path name in a future release and possibly provide a script to uninstall/re-install the server components for those clients upgrading from SQL2005 to SQL2008 in place.
If using the full path becomes a ncessity in SQL2008 then having the tools available from Red Gate will save a lot of misery for your clients and reduce support calls.

                        Joetig,
We reboot our servers at least once a month for Microsoft Patch Maintenance so that probably would have killed the orphaned process. It happened a long time ago and I do not have exact records.
Sorry

Version 5.4 I believe should fix the problem. I certainly haven't had it since upgrading to 5.4

Red Gate have sent me a new version of SQLBackup. This is supposed to fix this problem yet I had only seen it once so proving it fixes the problem will not be easy.

I had cancelled the original SQL Agent job and this worked after a while. The spid is still there and a KILL spid id WITH STATUSONLY shows an estimated rollback completion of 0% but the backup job has now run successfully the next time is was scheduled in SQL Agent. Red Gate GUI shows it still running. Strange.

We too are seeing that the verify step under V 5.2 and 5.3 is taking longer and longer to run. The verify is needed as part of the backup step so would it be possible to have some sort of verify parameters to make this step run faster?
We are starting to use Threadcount but this affects the whole backup job. I am suggesting perhaps a way of having a verifycount for just the verify process or something similar.
Thanks

Thanks Matthew. Looking at the Windows 2008 sticky that needs a new version of SQL Backup right?
