Thanks Pete.
I am just hoping it will get into the product soon as it happened again for me this week. Based on previous I am hoping for a June/July timeframe.

You don't mention what version you are using Randy. V 6 introduced some retry options with defaults of 10 tries after 30 seconds.
Can you provide the T-SQL that is being run please?

I think a lot here depends on the permission that the SQL login or Windows Account running the commands has.
I had to develop T-SQL scripts to backup and restore DB's that analysts use from SSMS when logged in using SQL logins. To do a differential restore I needed to make the SQL login have dbcreator server permission.
You also need to be aware of Red Gate restores work best when the database definition exists in master. In that case I would not drop the DB but just restore it with the REPLACE option.

added the IsCluster registry key but that didn't fix it. I had the add the SQLBackupAgent as a resource in Cluster admin before it worked. The registry entry HKLM\Software\Red Gate\SQL Backup\BackupSettings doesn't exist when I see it on others.
regardless 6.4 is working on this server.

Thanks Eddie,
Looking at the HKLM\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Red Gate\SQL Backup\InstalledInstances I cannot find any IsClustered key. I also checked one of our successfully upgraded clustered server and found the IsClustered key under HKLM\SOFTWARE\Red Gate\InstalledInstances\(LOCAL) as IsCluster.
Of course my problem server is the production one so I cannot try this for more than a week.
I will add the IsCluster key and see what happens.

Even though you want to be in SQL2000 mode on SQL2008 you cannot, with ease, restore it to SQL2000. The structure has changed and that happens when you restore into ot attach to a newer version server.
You don't mention how you created the SQL2000 backup that cannot be restored to SQL2008.

Jimmy,
If you are on SQL2005 or newer the log will not be fully backed up and therefore cleaned up if you run a Full backup. The Full will take enough of the transactions to make it fully recoverable. You must run a log backup to give you point in time recovery and to keep the log file space down.

Great.
Just what I had expected but had never had to do before so I wasn't exactly sure.
