The next release is very focused on the implementation of three new features.
1) Show Dependencies (including at column level)
2) Find Invalid Objects (objects that reference objects that no longer exist)
3) Script as Alter (right click on your object in a query window and script it as Alter to a new query window)
4) All SQL Refactor features will be integrated into SQL Prompt 5
Other than for critical bug fixes, we're not planning to enhance code completion or formatting for v5.
If you're interested in trying out v5 early access builds, let me know and I'll put you on our distribution list.
David,
When does Reg Gate plan on focusing on fixing the identified and confirmed bugs in SQL Prompt? While v4 introduced some new features it also introduced a lot of new bugs that still haven't been fixed, along with bugs from v3 that are still in there. Should we expect the same with v5, new features but even more bugs and broken existing functionality? / comments

Unfortunately we can't say at this point when the feature will be implemented. The backlog for v5 has already been finalized, and the project is currently in full swing.
Any chance you can share what SP-IDs have made the cut and are planned to get included/fixed in v5? (I have my list of 27 pet bugs/suggestions that I would like to see fixed.) / comments

There are a number of workarounds, but I seem to end up doing it the "wrong" way more than the "right" way. What is weird is that sometimes it will indent once, but on the second TAB it expands the *. / comments

Maybe the Alter object function in SQL Prompt should pull directly from the DB and not the cache, what do you think Red Gate is that possible?
Maybe an option to have the cache auto-refresh just before pulling the object? (That could be problematic since the refresh only refreshes the current DB, and you may be pulling an object from a different DB.) / comments

You can do something similar with SQL Prompt. See this older thread about the same thing: http://www.red-gate.com/MessageBoard/vi ... php?t=9493 / comments

I believe that you can put the special word: $CURSOR$ in your snippet to control where the cursor should end up.
As far as I can tell SQL Prompt 4 still uses the SQL Prompt 3 registry entry. (I am using it to move the snippets to a spot that isn't deleted every time I log off of my PC since we use roaming profiles.)
So the key that works for me is: "HKCU\Software\Red Gate\SQL Prompt 3\Snippets Folder" / comments

Hi CodantiM,
Thanks for the info. When I check for updates I get told that there are No updates available ... how did you get hold of 4.0.3.12?!
From the link posted in the forum: http://www.red-gate.com/MessageBoard/vi ... php?t=9993
on the last one the list doesnt show to screen but the cursor becomes available for editing. This list would be enormous 326x326=106k suggestion rows!
It doesn't match every field to every field does it, only fields where the field name matches...
2 things:
2 - my PC is not showing the 277 table anywhere as quickly as yours shows 232. Do you actually mean immediately or is it just nice and quick!? I cant test exactly as I cant find any tables between the 114 and the 277 at the moment.
The suggestions come up in less than a second for me with 232 columns. You must have the option selected to show join matches based on data type, if I turn that option on then SSMS locks up for about 30 seconds before the suggestions pop up. Even with that option selected it shouldn't match every field to every other field unless all fields were of the same data type. In any case do you really want the "Columns with matching data types" selected? (I know I don't.) / comments
